Earned the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in January, 1973 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Selected for Who’s Who of American Women 1997-98 and 2007.
Fall, 2017 will begin my 27th year as the watercolor and oil/acrylic painting instructor for the Adult Learning Enrichment program at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
Exhibiting member of the Jackson Watercolor Group. Member of Jackson Municipal Art Gallery. Current signature member and former board member of the Mississippi Watercolor Society. Former Vice president of the Rankin County Arts Alliance. Member of Mississippi Museum of Art. Art work exhibited at Mistletoe Marketplace, 2012 and again in 2013. Volunteer worker/donation for the Mississippi Symphony, Mississippi Museum of Art, Hearts Against Aids, New Stage Theater, American Cancer Society, Mississippi Kidney Foundation, and the Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth, Inc.
Forty of Laurel’s paintings in two-man show at Jackson Municipal Art Gallery, Jan., 2017. Paintings included in Jackson Watercolor Group 2015-16 shows. Work included in the 2009 Grand National Watercolor Exhibition, Jackson, MS. Work included in Fresh Inspiration II, the Challenge of Peace at the Welty Library in Jackson and the Universityof Mississippi Art Gallery in Oxford, 2005. Work accepted ( 300 artists worldwide) for the Unity Canvas (artist’s response to events of September 11, 2001)...exhibited at the Williamsburg Art Center in Brooklyn, New York in 2003, as a traveling exhibit the next two years, and shown the month of May, 2006 at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. One-man show New Stage Theater, 1997 and 2002. Work included in Quill and Kiln Fine Arts Exhibition, Biloxi, MS. Work chosen for internet art auction for Sela Ward’s Hope Village for Children,2002. Work exhibited in the Fall Fine Art Exhibit at Callaway Gardens, GA. Painting chosen for A Brush with Art at the Mississippi Museum of Art. Involvement with Mistletoe Market and for several years with Holiday Studio Tours.
